Auto Mechanic

Valley West Corner Store – West Des Moines, IA

Valley West Corner Store is looking for an experienced and dependable Auto Mechanic / Automotive Technician to join our team. We are a trusted local business providing quality automotive service and repairs for a variety of makes and models. We’re looking for someone who takes pride in their work, enjoys diagnosing and solving mechanical problems, and is committed to providing customers with honest, professional service.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, inspect, maintain, and repair cars, trucks, and other vehicles
• Perform routine maintenance including oil changes, fluid services, filters, batteries, and tune-ups
• Perform brake inspections and repairs, including pads, rotors, calipers, and related components
• Mount, balance, repair, and replace tires as needed
• Diagnose electrical, mechanical, and drivability issues
• Use diagnostic tools and equipment to accurately identify vehicle problems
• Inspect vehicles and identify additional maintenance or repair needs
• Complete repairs efficiently while following proper safety and service procedures
• Test-drive vehicles when appropriate to confirm repairs have been completed properly
• Maintain accurate records of work performed and parts used
• Communicate repair recommendations and vehicle concerns professionally with customers and team members
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
• Follow all company safety procedures and manufacturer repair guidelines

Qualifications

• Previous professional experience as an Auto Mechanic, Automotive Technician, or similar role
• Strong knowledge of automotive systems, components, and repair procedures
• Ability to accurately diagnose mechanical and electrical problems
• Experience working on a variety of makes and models
• Comfortable using hand tools, power tools, diagnostic scanners, lifts, and other automotive equipment
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
• Ability to work independently while also contributing to a team
• Reliable, punctual, and professional
• Good communication and customer-service skills
• Valid driver's license
• ASE certification is a plus, but not required
• Formal automotive training or technical-school education is a plus
