Position open until filled. Melrose Area Public Schools is seeking an enthusiastic, student-centered High School German Instructor to join our world language department beginning with the 2027–28 school year. Our German program is well established and offers students meaningful opportunities to develop language proficiency, explore German culture, and experience learning beyond the classroom. Upper-level German 3 and German 4 courses include concurrent college instruction, providing students with the opportunity to earn college credit while still in high school. A distinctive feature of our program is our long-standing German American Partnership Program (GAPP), an international student exchange partnership that has been an important tradition in Melrose for approximately 40 years. Through this partnership, students experience German language and culture firsthand, build international friendships, and develop a broader understanding of the world. We are looking for an educator who values these traditions while bringing enthusiasm, creativity, and a vision for continuing to strengthen and grow the program. The successful candidate will: Teach high school German courses, including German 1, 2, 3, and 4, as assigned. Provide engaging, proficiency-based instruction that develops students’ speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills. Incorporate German culture, history, current events, and authentic language experiences into instruction. Teach and support upper-level German courses that offer concurrent college credit opportunities. Coordinate and participate in the German American Partnership Program (GAPP), including planning and facilitating international student travel and exchange experiences. Prepare students for meaningful communication and cultural experiences beyond the classroom. Build positive relationships with students, families, colleagues, and international partner schools. Collaborate with colleagues to support student learning and provide a cohesive educational experience. Continue the strong traditions of the Melrose German program while exploring creative ways to enhance student engagement, language learning, and cultural connections. We are seeking a world language educator who: Holds or is eligible for appropriate Minnesota teaching licensure in German or world languages. Demonstrates strong German language proficiency and a passion for language instruction and cultural learning. Builds positive relationships and enjoys working with high school students. Uses engaging instructional practices that encourage students to communicate confidently and develop language proficiency. Is organized, collaborative, and committed to student success. Is willing and enthusiastic about coordinating and participating in international student exchange and travel through GAPP. Appreciates the value of concurrent college instruction and supporting students in earning college credit. Values the program’s long-standing traditions while bringing fresh ideas and opportunities to the classroom and the broader German program. #J-18808-Ljbffr Isd740
