About the Family A warm, busy family of three in Boston, MA is seeking a
proactive and highly capable Household Manager/Family Assistant to become a trusted, long-term member of their household.
Both principals have demanding careers outside the home and are looking for someone who can take ownership of the many personal, household, administrative, and family-related details that come with busy lives. This is a wonderful opportunity for someone who enjoys being the person who
makes things happen - anticipating needs, solving problems, staying organized, and following through without needing to be micromanaged.
This is a unique opportunity for an experienced Family Assistant who enjoys a blend of
household management, personal assistance, and occasional childcare . Their 5-year-old daughter is in school full-time, so childcare is not the primary focus of the position, but it is
important that the right candidate genuinely enjoys children and is warm, caring, and engaging with her. Responsibilities will include occasional school drop-off and pick-up, helping with snacks, and assisting with the evening routine when a parent is traveling. The principal's mother handles Tuesday pick-up and typically stays overnight.
The family's primary residence is in Boston, with additional properties in Essex, MA and Miami, FL. They also own three rental properties. A wonderful property manager oversees the Miami home, and this person may occasionally coordinate with her. The role also includes some administrative property support.
Responsibilities - Household Management: Oversee household logistics, online orders, deliveries, errands, maintenance, vendors, service appointments, and general follow-through.
- Scheduling & Personal Assistance: Coordinate the principals' Outlook calendars and help manage personal appointments, travel research and booking, reservations, and other personal logistics. One principal has a professional assistant with whom this person may occasionally coordinate.
- Childcare Support: Provide occasional school drop-off/pick-up and warm, attentive care for the family's daughter, including snacks and evening routines when needed.
- Property Support: Provide occasional administrative support for the Essex property, coordinate vendors as needed, and assist with organization of leases, tax documents, and other information related to the family's rental properties.
- Problem-Solving: Anticipate needs, research solutions, and take ownership of tasks from beginning to end.
- Anticipate challenges and proactively develop strategic solutions to household and property management issues
- Maintain flexibility to adapt to the fast-paced lifestyle of the family
Ideal Candidate & Personality The family is looking for someone who brings
both warmth and professionalism to the role. Someone who is kind, caring, supportive, and naturally engaging with their daughter, while also being polished, discreet, organized, and professional when handling household and administrative responsibilities.
The ideal candidate is a
highly motivated, resourceful individual who thrives in a dynamic environment and can maintain composure under pressure. They possess a strategic mindset, capable of mapping out multiple approaches to problem-solving without becoming overwhelmed by obstacles. This person is
adaptable, quick-thinking, and able to seamlessly shift focus between household management tasks and providing thoughtful, attentive support to the family's daughter as needed. A positive attitude and resilience in the face of challenges are essential qualities.
Emotional intelligence is key. The right person will be comfortable reading the room and naturally shifting between being personable and relaxed and being focused, efficient, and "all business" when appropriate.
This person should be a
self-starter and natural problem-solver who enjoys figuring things out rather than waiting for instructions. They should be highly organized, technologically savvy, trustworthy, flexible, and comfortable working independently. Most importantly, the family is seeking someone interested in a
long-term relationship who can become a true partner in making their busy lives run more smoothly.
Requirements - Prior experience as a Household Manager, Family Assistant, Personal Assistant, Executive Assistant, or similar private household role.
- Professional childcare experience and a genuine love of children.
- Excellent professional references.
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Technologically savvy and comfortable managing calendars and digital systems.
- Discreet, reliable, proactive, and able to work independently.
- Ability to manage multiple properties remotely and coordinate related communications effectively
- Comfortable coordinating with vendors, property managers, and professional assistants.
- Comfortable running errands and handling household logistics
- Reliable, proactive, and able to work independently
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
- Legally authorized to work in the United States
- Must be able to keep pace with a busy household and demanding professional schedules
Compensation & Schedule The family guarantees
30 hours per week, Monday through Friday, at $40/hour , plus PTO. The schedule has some flexibility based on the family's needs. Most days will likely be around
11:00am-5:00pm , while Thursdays may start later and extend until approximately
7:00-8:00pm . Some flexibility around school pick-ups, travel, and the principals' schedules will be important.
The family is committed to finding the
right long-term fit and is looking for someone who will become a trusted and valued part of their household.
